Ruddington.com - Community Website
Project
RITA has developed a new website for
the village - Ruddington.com
- which allow clubs, societies and voluntary organisations in Ruddington
to have a "no cost" web presence. The site also includes
visitor information, an events diary, message board, contact details
for essential services and links to County, Borough and Parish Council
websites
The website was developed with the
support of Nottinghamshire Rural Community Council and forms part
of its Virtual Village Project, funded by the Coalfields Single Regeneration
Budget. Forty villages are now involved in the Virtual Village Project
and they have built an impressive array of sites (although we like
to think Ruddington.com is amongst the best) - to find out more, visit
the Notts. RCC
website
For Ruddington.com to be a success,
it has to be "community owned". If you have time to spare
and would like to become involved in developing the website, we would
be delighted to hear from you. We are particularly keen to recruit
volunteers with web design, graphic design or IT skills, but above
all we need people with enthusiasm and commitment to the ideals of
the project.
Ruddington.org
- Arts and Poetry
Ruddington's Arts and Poetry
website - Ruddington.org
- was lauched in the summer of 2003 and aims to provide a showcase
for local artistic, poetic and literary talent. The site is being
developed gradually and although there has been a good response on
the poetry front, many more contributors are needed on on the the
arts front.
Poetry collections are changed quarterly,
or more frequently if the volume of material warrants, and include
an eclectic mix of material covering various themes including addiction,
religion, humour and feminism. Regular contributors to the poetry
section include Pat Dring, Simon Auchterlonie, Michelle Hubbard and
Gavin Walker.
Ruddington.biz - for local
traders and small businesses
RITA administers and maintains the
Ruddington.biz
website on behalf of a group of local traders. The three initial sites
- David Richards Jewellers, Ruddington Cyles and The Honeycomb Christian
Charity Shop - were all created at a "web in a day" session
funded by Rushcliffe Borough Council. The shops contribute a small
sum (currently £10 per year) to have the sites hosted by ruddington.biz
and to cover overheads, administation and updating the site during
the year. So for approximately 20p per week, these shops have a simple,
professional website and an effective online presence. Perhaps your
business should be doing the same!
If you haven't got a website and
are interested in creating one, we would be happy to discuss how RITA
could assist you. Don't forget, RITA is a "not for profit"
organisation run by unpaid volunteers, so it can offer extremely cost-effective
website solutions.
If you already have a website for
your business, there is a searchable directory into which you can
input your details and a link to the site, free of charge. Please
email RITA if you would like your site to be included in the pictorial
link pages as well.
