'The Rudd' Becomes 'Rudd' and Goes Monthly
Chris Murden, owner and editor of 'The Rudd', has
decided to take the publication monthly. The move is in part aimed
at seeing off the threat from a new rival free monthly newsletter
'Ruddington News' which treatens to undermine the advertising market.
The new style 'Rudd' will be available on the last Wednesday of the
month and although the cover price has doubled to 50p, the publication
has increased significantly in size and content since Chris took over
earlier in the year. More controversial is the dropping of the definitive
article from the name. Many find the contaction of Ruddington to Rudd
hard to stomach, so how will they cope with the latest change. Will
we see a Save the 'The' campaign? Let us know your views.
Arson Disrupts Business at Ruddington Travel
The period around bonfire night was not a happy
one for the owners of Ruddington Travel. Arsonists struck on the afternoon
of Friday 7th November, using the letterbox in the door at the back
of the shop as their avenue of attack. The fire smouldered for a couple
of hours before it was spotted by a passer by who called the fire services
at about 5.00pm. The shop suffered extensive smoke damage and requires
a complete refit and replacement stock of brochures before it can resume
normal trade.
