Saturday 11th. December 2004

This is it - the big one ! Musicalities first major public performance. Butterflies in the stomach doesn't even begin to describe it !

After the parties over.....

To our delight, the St. Peters Rooms filled up rapidly, and we had to put extra chairs out. The table service started humming away, with a continous flow of wines and beers betwen the bar and the hall.

Finally, the appointed hour arrived. Liam had been playing ‘The Entertainer’ as an overture, and then the four songsters climbed up onto the stage. With a flourish, Liam raised his hands and brought them down onto the keyboard for a stirring introduction to…..NOTHING….TOTAL SILENCE….the keyboard’s computer had just crashed !!!

Ashen faced, he turned it off and back on again….and it worked. Phew. We had just had our gremlin for the performance.

The songs where an eclectic mixture of the stirring, the jovial and the melancholy, and where well received by the audience. Nic struggled to get the sound balance to work, and many people mentioned that it was sometimes hard to hear at the back – more work needed on the microphones and technology, we fear. Anybody got around £2000 to spare?

Thanks to the hard work of everybody, the evening was a success. We filled the hall to capacity, and made a profit to fund future events, in no small way down to the bar and raffle.
