Outings

Does everything that's handed in get sold, then?

Not always. We give clothing and goods to relief agencies like Rough Sleepers and the Friary Drop-in Centre. We send parcels of specific clothing to Africa, Bosnia and Peru, and we give shoes and clothing to special needs children. We also take in used postage stamps and old spectacles. A bit like a recycling plant, really.

Does the shop belong to a church?

No, we are quite independent, but all our helpers come from the churches in the surrounding area.

Do you help people in many different ways?

That's right, and we're used as a counselling centre, comfort station and first aid post. We are happy to give a cup of coffee and a listening ear to anyone who needs it. You can also make use of our prayer request box and find out more information about what our churches have to offer. We also help support adults and young people with special needs by offering them work experience in the shop.

Homemade marmalade is once again on sale in the shop
