Who are we?

Ruddington Baptist Church comprises about 70 adults and 40 children, mainly living in the village of Ruddington, Nottingham.

We are a local church. Although our mission extends beyond Ruddington through the workplace ministry of members and a variety of mission activities, the focus of our efforts is Ruddington. We are a church in the community and for the community.

We are on a journey. Although our destination is clear - to know God through Jesus Christ and to follow him in everyday life - none of us have arrived yet. We invite all who are on the same journey to join with us, irrespective of progress on the journey to date. Those who invite Jesus Christ to be their Saviour and Lord are encouraged to express this through believer's baptism.

We are on a journey together. Our journey is not a solitary one and we aim to create a rich, happy and purposeful community life. Each individual is free to choose their degree of involvement although we invite those who make RBC their spiritual home to become members of the church. This brings with it the responsibilities of decision making through the Church Meeting. Like all Baptist Churches, RBC is congregationally governed. This means that although the church has a minister and a leadership team who provide direction, the final responsibility for the life and health of the church belongs with the members.

We are on a journey with other Christian Churches. We see ourself as an equal partner with the other village churches, working together wherever this is fruitful. As a Baptist church we also identify ourself with other Baptists - locally, regionally and nationally. This is expressed through our active partnership in mission with the Baptist Churches south of the river Trent and our membership of the Baptist Union of Great Britain and the East Midlands Baptist Association.
