Other Activities
Ruddington has several nursing and rest homes. The Rainbow team visit Balmore Nursing Home, Orchard House Rest Home, South Manor and St Peter's Nursing Home and take a short daytime service for the residents once a month (usually Wednesdays, 11:00 - 11:30 A.M.). These services are very well received and the team are looking to extend this ministry. You can find out more about the Rainbows team at the Ruddington Rainbow Ministries website, or have a word with Lesley Shaw (via the church office).
Footsteps
Footsteps is a non-denominational groups for Christians and those interested in the Christian faith. We meet at Leys Court Lounge on the third Wednesday afternoon in each month, between 2.00pm and (approximately) 4.00pm. We hope to have a guest speaker each month, and afterwards to explore and share our thoughts on the subject we have heard, and to do this in an informal and relaxed way over tea and cakes.
Trips and outings
RBC Outings started in 2002, and developed from a vision Sylvia Sanderson and Lesley Shaw had to organise an afternoon outing for the “older” retired members of our community, many of whom are without transport, and would appreciate the idea of a bus leaving from the village. One trip led to two more, bringing in an even wider mix of people, and has continued each year since then.
Here for more details on the trips and outings.
Social
One of the things you will soon discover about this church if you come is that we enjoy being together, and we arrange a variety of activities and events throughout the year. Some of these are organised by housegroups, others by individuals. Most social events are open to anyone, and are usually publicised in the notices, along with a contact name.
Although several people organise social events, Jack and Jane Strong take the lead in ensuring that there are some social events for the whole church throughout the year, (swimming, overnight camping trips, bonfire parties etc) and they are the people to contact if you have some good ideas, or would like to be involved.
Worship Group
The members of the worship group use their gifts to lead and facilitate the worship within the church. This is primarily at Sunday services, but also at Sunday evening prayer times, church meetings, and one-off events. The team consists of people of various ages and abilities, singing and/or playing a range of instruments, united by their love of music and a desire to use their gifts to serve God in worship.
The group is always keen to welcome new people, so if you would like to know more, contact the worship group leader, Phil O'Neill. If you are interested in finding out more about operating the sound system, have a word with Chris Greenhalgh (via the church office).
